چکیده
Abstract During the last three decades, interest in application of steel shear walls has increased worldwide. Steel are used as stiffened and unstiffened walls. One main shortcomings plate wall (SPSW) is infill buckling mainly under lateral wind seismic loads. useful solutions to prevent use with corrugated plates. In this research, behavior a consisting two plates was investigated material cases conventional ASTM A36 low-yield-point (LYP) steel. The low yield strength improves performance system. study, effect corrugation angle aspect ratio were investigated. results showed that on structural parameters LYP greater than By increasing from 30° 60°, elastic stiffness decreased about 24 36%, respectively, response modification factor (R u ) by 56%. lower ultimate energy absorption. Experimental Investigation of Light-Gauge Steel Plate Shear Walls
This paper describes the prototype design, specimen design, experimental setup, and experimental results of three light-gauge steel plate shear wall concepts. Prototype light-gauge steel plate shear walls are designed as seismic retrofits for a hospital structure in an area of high seismicity, and emphasis is placed on minimizing their impact on the existing framing. Three single-story test spe...
متن کاملBehavior of Vertical Boundary Elements in Steel Plate Shear Walls
The AISC Seismic Provisions and CSA S-16 Standard require a minimum moment of inertia for the vertical boundary elements (VBEs) in steel plate shear walls (SPSWs) to avoid undesirable VBE behaviors. The equation limiting VBE flexibility has been derived from a flexibility factor, ωt, developed in plate girder theory and the limit on VBE flexibility has been empirically specified based on previo...
متن کاملSeismic Behavior of Intermediate Beams in Steel Plate Shear Walls
This paper presents some preliminary results of an ongoing research whose objective is to investigate the seismic behavior of intermediate beams (i.e., the beams other than those at the roof and foundation levels) in multi-story steel plate shear walls (SPSWs). Of primary interest is the determination of the strength level needed to avoid the formation of in-span plastic hinges, a relevant prac...
متن کاملExperimental Investigation on Cyclic Behavior of Butterfly-shaped Links Steel Plate Shear Walls
An innovative type called "butterfly-shaped links steel plate shear wall (BLSPSW)" was proposed as a lateral load resisting system. In this novel system, by creating butterfly-shaped links in the four sides of the web plate, the lateral load resisting mechanism is not the development of a diagonal tension field on the web plate (similar to Conventional SPSWs), but the capacity of the system is ...
متن کاملComparison of plasticity and stiffness of steel shear walls with composite steel plate shear wall
The steel shear wall and composite steel plate shear wall is introduced in recent three decade and is considered and is spread rapidly. Composite steel plate shear wall which is made of a layer of thin steel sheet with coating of reinforced concrete in one or both sides of steel palate is considered a third generation of resistance shear walls against lateral loads that in addition to increasin...
